Every child develops at their own pace
As parents, potty training is a stage we must all go through and the difficulty factor depends mostly on the child. I have two children who had vastly different experiences with potty training. My daughter was interested at the age of two, and potty trained herself. She never looked back, however she also wet the bed the longest during nighttime. My son was the opposite. He had fear of the potty which carried all the way until he was almost 4 years old. There are many methods we tried with both of them, and here are a few that worked and some to serve as additional resources in our area and virtually:
Option 1) Kiddy Care – Click Here
Cost: $500 for weekend bootcamp
This potty training bootcamp specializes in child development and all things potty training. Parents drop the child off at the Cornelius childcare facility for 2 days (minus the overnight) and with a 95% success rate, your child is sure to learn new methods to become comfortable with potty training. After trying at home on our own, this place was the key we needed to get our son potty trained. We dropped him off by Saturday morning and by Sunday he was no longer afraid, and we were able to ditch the diapers.
Option 2) Therapee Bed Wetting Alarm – Click Here
Cost: $299 for the alarm and program
TheraPee is a combination of an advanced bedwetting alarm brought together with state-of-the-art, web-based interactive software. The system is based on over 30 years of professional research and practical application. The TheraPee system is an alarm and tracking system that offers a comprehensive program to make steady progress for overnight bed wetting. The alarm works by sounding when your child wets their bed by waking them up. This allows the brain to correlate urinating with waking up, which eventually causes the brain to wake the child when its time to use the bathroom. This system worked for our household when my daughter grew older and was still wetting the bed. It takes some patience, but you will see results within 4-6 weeks.
Option 3) The Potty Whisperer – Click Here
Cost: $250 – $900 for basic to complete camp
This program by the Potty Whisperer is a virtual camp where parents can enroll their child and taylor the camp to their specific needs. There are camps ranging from basic to complete, with varying session quantites. These camps will allow the child to build, learn, and practice the basics and become more and more aware of potty-training skills
Option 4) NC Diaper Bank – Click Here
Cost: Free for families with financial constraints
Families living in poverty often feel pressured into early potty training to reduce expenses. Thanks to a grant from the Duke Community Fund, Diaper Bank of NC provides free potty-training classes. The classes focus on developmental readiness and offers handy tips to ensure a good experience for parent and child. Contact the NC Diaper Bank at (919) 886-8085 for scheduling needs and more information.
Option 5) Christy’s Potty Training – Click Here
Cost: $450-$650
Say goodbye to diapers and pull-ups! You bring your child to Christy’s camp for 4 hours and allow her to fast-track their development. As we know, children act completely differently when parents are not around. For this reason, this facility potty trains the children at camp to gain complete cooperation from the child. During this camp, the child attends for 2 – 5 days, depending on their readiness. The 5-day boot camp is $450 and the $650 boot camp is 10 days of potty training for a fast-track program.
