5 Ways to Meet Mom Friends

Finding quality mom friends can be challenging

As I have grown older, I find that making new mom friends can be extremely challenging.  Seasons in life can change quickly whether it is moving to a new area or landing a new job.  This can have an impact on those closest to you and change your inner circle in an instant.  Now that more people are working remotely and the world has changed, it can be difficult to meet mom friends.

Making a conscious effort to grow your circle

In recent years, I made a conscious effort to work on my friendships and cultivate new relationships that weren’t dependent on geographical location and work relationships.  I looked carefully for friends who shared common interests but also brought a whole new perspective to life.  Here are some of the methods I tried, and the one that worked best for me:

5 excellent options to find your circle:

Meetup App

Meetup App – This app was a lifesaver and led me to my core group of friends I have now, but it was not without effort.  The Meetup as is an app designed to start groups in your local area to bring people together with commonalities.  The particular group I joined was a 30’s group where everyone was within the same age range.  The group organizer scheduled events and dinners and we were able to meet new people each time. This also allowed for continuing relationships with those you met previously.  This method of meeting friends was my personal favorite.  I invested a lot of time to grow a close group of friends that I anticipate I will be friends with for many years.

Bumble BFF – App

Bumble BFF – This is the same app you have probably heard of in the dating world, except Bumble BFF is a way to find new friends.  The app has similar functionality to dating apps where you make a profile and swipe based on whether you feel someone would be a good fit.  Bumble BFF is wonderful if you are looking for one or two close friends and hope to begin relationships with those who have similar interests.

Peanut – App

Peanut – This app is similar to Bumble BFF however it is only for woman and geared towards women with similar life stages such as motherhood, pregnancy, infertility etc.  It also offers a sense of community to connect with others.  The Peanut app is a virtual space where users can set their location as Charlotte to meet other mothers who are local.

Charlotte Mom Facebook Group – App or desktop

Charlotte Mom Facebook – Join our Facebook site and meet mom friends local to the area who have similar interests.  We have created a safe place for local moms to come together and support each other through Facebook.  Check back often for event information. The Charlotte Mom community will hold local events to connect women from all walks of life.

Mecklenburg Library – Mobile App or Desktop

Charlotte Mecklenburg Library Book Club – The Charlotte Mecklenburg Library currently organizes book clubs for adults at which allows members to come together to discuss current books and socialize.  There are meeting times all throughout the week and weekends, with flexible hours for anyone with specific schedule needs.  This is one way to find local moms in your area.  Find friends who share the common interest of reading and make some friends along the way.
