Local Farms For Kids In and Around Charlotte

  • Patterson Farm (Mount Ulla, NC) – This is a popular farm in the area that has a ton to keep your little ones busy. They have a market and Ice cream shop, pick your own strawberries. Sand pit, slides, swings, PawPaw Carl’s playground and barnyard. It is $10 per person. During the fall they have a corn maze that is a big hit as well.

McLawland Farms (Charlotte, NC) – You can pick flowers, berries and they offer farm tours. A 90 minute experience is $40. You can make an appointment online and the farm even has an AirBnb.

  • Bush-N-Vine (York, SC)- Pick your own strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, peaches, pumpkins, and flowers. You can even opt to just visit the store which has a Farm Cafe, lots of Produce, and even Angus Beef.

  • Hall Family Farm (Lancaster, SC)- Come by this farm to pick your own Strawberries or Pumpkins. Admission is free and they have small farm animals such as pigs, goats and chickens. You will want to stay and eat at Hall’s Kitchen. The desserts at the bakery are delicious.

  • Lineberger’s Farm (Dallas, NC)-This is a fruit farm offering pick your own strawberries, blackberries, and muscadines. They also have playgrounds and a chicken coup to entertain the kiddos.

  • Darby Acres Farm (Charlotte, NC)- This is a family-run petting zoo with llamas, sheep, goat, pig, horse, Lemur, Zebra, and more! Please note that prepaid reservations are required.

  • Ponderosa (Charlotte, NC)- Come see what it takes to run a farm. They offer farm visits with cows, goats, sheep, turkeys, alpacas, and more. You will want to make a reservation online and It is $40 per group. They also sell fresh produce and eggs.

  • Black Peaches (York, SC) – If you are looking for fresh produce and meat, this is a great option. They even have a restaurant. Make sure you save room for some ice cream! You can also pick your own strawberries, peaches, tomatoes and pumpkins.

  • Ellaberry Llama Farm (Hendersonville, NC): This is a llama farm which offers tours, llama treks and events! The farm tour lasts 1.5 hours and is $20 per person. You even get to walk a llama through an obstacle course.

  • Sweetwater Farms – Open Wednesday through Sunday for $6 per person. They offer strawberry picking and animal encounters. The horses were especially sweet on our recent visit. They have a large area for the kids to burn off some steam. They also have a little cafe to grab a snack. You can purchase a season pass for $99.

  • Wise Acres (Indian Trail, NC)- This farm offers U-pick strawberries, blueberries, sunflowers, and pumpkins by reservation only. They also have a playground, snacks, animals, wagon rides, zip line and more.

  • Cotton Bean Goat Farm (Mt. Pleasant, NC) – Cuteness overload at this farm as you cuddle with goats.They offer a 45 minute baby goat play date and cuddle session which is $15 per person. An Appointment is required to visit the farm.

  • Two Little Acres Homestead (Charlotte, NC)- This farm offers a Summer Camp, farm classes, as well as special events. They even have Toddler Time options which is great. You can also hatch chicks or ducklings at home or host a bunny.

  • Good Karma Alpaca Ranch – Good Karma offers farm tours for $13 per person. The alpacas are so friendly and seem to really enjoy the attention. There was recently a baby born that is adorable and another one due any day now! They also have special events such as Alpaca Yoga.

  • Carrigan Farms (Mooresville, NC)- This farm north of Charlotte offers apple picking, strawberry picking, pumpkin picking, fresh produce and the infamous Quarry. Swimming in the deep natural quarry is refreshing and perfect for a family-fun activity ($30 per person). They even have a haunted trail in the fall!
